Wait a minute! Cereal is NOT paleo (or primal or caveman or whateveryouwannacallit). But this “cereal” has no grains. I’m talking no Corn Flakes, no Wheaties, and no Rice Puffs. What it does contain though is a hell of a lot of nuts, and it’s not something I would recommend as your regular first meal of the day. But for the occasional indulgence and flashback to that bowl of happiness you used to pour as a kid before sitting down to watch Saturday morning cartoons, there are worse options.

Caveman Coffee Cereal
Ingredients
- 2 tbs Walnuts (chopped)
- 2 tbs Almonds (chopped)
- 1 tbs Macadamia nuts (chopped)
- 1 tbs Pecans (chopped)
- 1/2 tsp Cinnamon (more if preferred)
- 1/4 cup Black coffee (hot or cold your preference)
- Berries (sliced banana, or other fruit to taste)
Instructions
-
Place all of the nuts and the cinnamon into a bowl, and mix well.
-
Pour the coffee into the bowl, and mix again. If you’re one of those crazy kids who indulges in the occasional bit of dairy with their coffee, then add your splash of cream as well.
-
Top with berries, banana, or other fruit as desired.

So…this is a bowl of nuts with coffee? That is not cereal but okay.
Hey Cascarone –
Cereal isn’t paleo – so this is sort of a “paleo hack” on how to create something that’s cereal-like and still is within paleo-confines.
Yum – I’ve been looking for an alternative that’s quick n easy to make in the mornings for me and my little one. I’ll leave the coffee out of hers though – any suggestions for what to use in place for a 9 month old?
Thanks so much
I use almond or coconut milk. I also add coconut flakes. (I love coconut (:)
Thank you for this recipe. I make a similar paleo “cereal” but had not thought of adding coffee to it. One thing if I may….is it possible for you to add a nutrition panel alongside your recipes? Knowing the amount of total carbs and dietary fibre would be very helpful. This is a friendly enquiry – so if you can’t then you can’t.
